It’s been said that “more people are willing to accept the ‘baby’ Jesus at Christmas than the grown up Jesus who preached repentance, died on the cross, and then rose again” – yet it’s the same Jesus! Why are so many more willing to accept the scene of baby Jesus in a manger than Lord Jesus on the cross? The answer is simple… many are OK with a Jesus who is harmless, gentle, peaceful, and can be put out of mind after a short season of ‘peace on earth and good will toward men.’

The truth is, Baby Jesus in the manger and Savior Jesus who hung on the cross are the same Jesus. You can’t accept one without the other. It’s true that Jesus is the reason we celebrate this season, but baby Jesus is no more – He’s all grown up, there’s more to the story. Share that story with someone this Christmas because many fail to connect the dots. Let the picture of the manger lead you to the story of the cross, for that is the real reason for the season. “For God so loved the world that he gave His only begotten Son that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life” (John 3:16).

Let the gift of God’s salvation be your favorite gift again this year. Speak of it to family, friends, and neighbors. Put Christ back in Christmas and let this be the most wonderful Christmas of your life.

God bless, Pastor Troy
